Academic Framework

The MSW programme at Sikkim Skill University offers a flexible academic framework aligned with NEP 2020 through core social work courses, specialisations, electives, fieldwork training, and research-based projects.

Foundation Core

Core subjects focusing on the fundamentals of social work, social welfare administration, sociology, psychology, human behavior, social justice, and professional ethics to build a strong conceptual foundation.

Major (Specialisation)

In-depth study in the chosen social work specialisation such as Community Development, Medical & Psychiatric Social Work, Child & Family Welfare, or Rural Development to develop professional competence and field readiness.

Field Work / Practical Training

Extensive hands-on fieldwork through NGOs, hospitals, schools, community organizations, welfare agencies, and government institutions to gain real-world social work experience.

Skill Enhancement (Elective)

Skill-based electives including counseling skills, case work, group work, social research methods, project planning, documentation, and communication for social intervention.

Minor (Interdisciplinary Elective)

Opportunity to study allied disciplines such as psychology, sociology, public administration, health studies, or development studies to broaden understanding and enhance social work practice.
